Bianca Lara

Bianca Lara is a dedicated music educator, performer, arranger, and advocate for accessible music education for students of all ages and demographics. Since earning a Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music in 2013, she has focused her energy on building her private studio and networking within the teaching and performing communities.

Since 2010, Bianca has held private studios in the South Bay and has grown her studio of violin and viola students to roughly 30 at its peak. In 2016, she founded a student string orchestra, the AMUSE String Chamber Orchestra (ASCO), and they have participated in collaborations with local ensembles and have performed at community outreach events. Previously, she was the primary string teacher and liaison at the Children of Promise Preparatory Academy in Inglewood until 2018 and taught in the Palos Verdes Unified School District as the String Ensemble teacher at Point Vicente Elementary until 2020. Currently, Bianca holds positions at Bishop Montgomery High School as the String Orchestra Director since 2019 and at the Palos Verdes Intermediate School as the String Coach since 2023.

In addition to her ample teaching schedule, Bianca is a freelance violist. She frequently performs locally at community-held events and musical theater productions. Bianca’s recurring gigs include serving as principal violist in the Beach Cities Symphony, principal violist with the Corelli Ensemble, and section violist with the Peninsula Symphony.

Bianca’s teaching philosophy emphasizes building a strong foundation in music theory, technique, ear training, and ensemble playing, while also encouraging creativity, self-expression, and a joy for music. Learning music with Bianca means a commitment to music education with thoughtfully arranged music tailored for each individual’s learning experience and providing a solid foundation for ensemble practice. Bianca is dedicated to nurturing each student’s unique musical journey and providing each student with a lifelong appreciation for music.
